I'm thrilled to have teamed up with fabulous Brighton-based violinist Annie Kerr - already great things are happening, with a place in the regional finals of Open Mic UK, and a charity fundraiser gig coming up on 17 October - see elsewhere on the website for more details...
A seasoned writer and performer in both the UK and America, Mandy has spent most of her adult life giving in to wanderlust and crafting songs, many of which tell a story - about the ups and downs of relationships, her own and other people's struggles and quests for whatever it is we think our life is about, and anything else that has set her imagination off on her unconventional journey to where she is now.
After spending a decade in Austin, Texas, followed by a number of years back in the UK, she made a return visit to the States in 2010, drawn to Nashville, Tennessee, where she met and paired up professionally with singer songwriter Terri Calderon, with whom she has written a number of songs. Mandy has since then been over to Nashville several times to write and perform. She is now living in Brighton, and is a member of the London Songwriters' Group. In 2013 she released a 5-track CD, 'All Along', recorded at Tigersonic Studio in London, and she is involved with the London-based Fearless Females collective. Mandy also formed the duo Yellow Rose with Eastbourne-based singer-songwriter Jayne Ingles, and the pair have gained a following in the surrounding area.
While preparing to move to Brighton, Mandy met and teamed up with violinist Annie Kerr, with whom she is taking part in the regional finals of Open Mic UK in Reading at the end of October. The pair are also playing at Music Mayhem, a fundraiser for RISE, a local domestic abuse charity, at the Brunswick in Hove on Friday 17 October.
Mandy also has a personalised songwriting service, Dax Lyrical, involving writing bespoke songs about people's precious sausage dogs! Her various commissions, including a song she wrote for a couple in Florida that's subsequently gained quite a few hits on YouTube, can be heard on the Dax Lyrical website - word is apparently spreading far and wide!
Mandy is co-host, along with performance poet Little Red, of Red 'n' Randy's Rambunctious Open Mic every Wednesday evening at the Marlborough pub in Brighton.
